Semana 4

Hola!
I hope you all had a semana fabulosa! I miss you all but I know I am where I supposed to be! Well its getting down to the wire! 2 more weeks them I’m off to Barcelona! Ahhh so crazy!! I’m so pumped to share the gospel with the people of Barcelona!

So this week has been pretty eventful! All the apostles and the prophet have been here at the mtc to train all the new mission presidents! I saw a bunch of apostles including elder Uchtdorf, elder Bednar, elder Christofferson, and elder Gong! Elder HOLLAND came to speak to us at devotional! How cool is that?! He spoke about the atonement and how Christ can make all of the negatives in our life’s into positives! I also got the opportunity to help teach sister Gong spanish and we saw elder and sister Gong and talked to them in Spanish for a little bit! Also, one day me and my compañeras were walking and we see a car pull up 20 feet in front of us and we see the prophet PRESIDENT RUSSEL M NELSON walk out! We literally froze and were freaking out!! The spirit was so strong! I know these men are men of god. They know him and they talk to him. They want the best for us.

Also my favorite thing that happened this week was me and my compañeras were talking to mission presidents heading to Mexico and President Ballard walks by and stops and says, “well don’t you sisters look like a bunch of beautiful tulips?” My heart literally melted!! Isn’t the cutest thing ever?! I’ve never been called a beautiful tulip but I can safely say that I love it!!

Well I hope you all have a fabulous week!! I know that this gospel is true. It brings me so much joy. I know the Book of Mormon is true. I receive so much peace and comfort from reading it. It has been my therapy here in the mtc. If you haven’t read this book in a while I encourage you to do so and also pray about it!
Love you all!

Adios, nos vemos, ciao, hasta luego!

Semana 3

Hola,
I hope you all are doing well! Birthday shoutout to Zak, happy late birthday bro! Hope ya had a great one! I’m praying for you guys always!

Everything is good here! I’m half way done here at the mtc which is crazy because it feels like it’s flying by! The spirit is always so strong and it’s making me so pumped to head out into the field!

This week all the new mission presidents are coming to the mtc to be trained and that means that the prophet and 12 apostles are coming!! I hope I get to see some apostles! My teacher, Hermana Nelson, is the prophets granddaughter so we are hoping she brings him in for show and tell!

We have recently started this thing called TRC’s where we have to teach a native speaker and answer any of their questions about the church. I have really had to rely on my savior because I know I can not do that alone. They have been going really well which I’m so excited about! I am continuing to understand that as I worry about others and their needs, everything falls into place!

I am loving my Hermanas and mi districto! We are calling ourselves the “districto de óro” (gold district) because I’m convinced we are the best haha. I know that God is aware of my needs and has sent these amazing people to me to inspire, love, help, and teach me. I love going to the temple with them every week. They are truly becoming my family away from my family haha.

Some fun things that happened this week included:
-a sleepover with my Hermanas on our floor
-making gospel parodys set to pop songs
      -temple trip with my district

I loved reading in the Book of Mormon in Alma 26. This is quite possibly my fav chapter in the Book of Mormon. Alma is describing how he taught people in the streets, in their homes, and in their churches. They were spit upon, cast out, and beat up. Right after explaining this he says, “Now have we not reason to rejoice? Yea, I say unto you, there never were men that had so great reason to rejoice as we...” how amazing is that? Even after all their trials, they rejoiced because this is the work of the lord! This gospel is a gospel of hope, joy, and love! I’m so happy to be apart of this great work! I encourage all of you to read Alma 26 this week. (you can thank me later haha)
Te amo mucho! Yo sé que Jesucristo vive y el nos ama! Si pedimos, Jesucristo se ayudará. Nos hablamos pronto!

Adios,

Hola!
This week was quite eventful... the MTC is really starting to feel like home now that I’ve been here 2 weeks. The routine is getting more normal and less confusing haha.

Well it’s been good here.  I hope you are all safe and happy. Thanks for your prayers! I know that the lord is watching over all of us.  I realized this week that our Heavenly Father created us to be exactly who he needs us to be.  I’m not the best at Spanish or communicating my thoughts in Spanish but I am good at other things and I’ve been through trials that help me to relate to people that other people can’t relate to.  If we turn to Christ he will make our weaknesses strong and help us become something we didn’t think possible.  This week I had to go talk to native Spanish speakers and just hav a conversation with them.  I was terrified! I prayed with my companion before and right when I walked into the room and started talking with this lady named Ana, I felt peace and comfort. It is amazing how as we just work on loving the people we teach, the language will come.  We are teaching our first lesson to a native speaker investigator. I am so excited to tell y’all how it goes.  Anyways, I love you all! Adios!
Te amo mucho,

“And it came to pass that I, Nephi, said unto my father: I will go and do the things which the Lord hath commanded, for I know that the Lord giveth no commandments unto the children of men, save he shall prepare a way for them that they may accomplish the thing which he commandeth them.” - 1 Nephi 3:7

HOLA MI FAMILIA Y AMIGOS!

Hola,
Ugh I can’t explain how great it feels to have P day and be able to write home! I hope everyone is doing well! I pray for my family and friends everyday! I love you all! Thank you for all the prayers coming my way, I totally feel them as I go throughout my days.

Well the MTC is muy buen, muy loco, y muy espiritual! My companion Hermana Heitonga is from Tonga and she is so hilarious and sweet. She was a little worried to have a “white chick” as her companion but she quickly let me know that I am welcome to come to Tonga whenever I want haha!!  My other Hermanas (we all call each other companions cause we are so close) are from New Zealand and Texas. Their names are Hermana Watson y Hermana Connally. Mi Hermana will be coming to Barcelona with me which is great!

My district is so awesome! We all get along so well! There are 4 of us hermanas y 8 Élderes. All the elders are either going to Barcelona or Madrid which is so fun!

We all went to the temple together as a zone this morning and it was so amazing to be surrounded by people my age who have the same goal as me, which is to serve the Lord and bring his children closer to him! The Spirit was so strong!

So...I have so many funny stories already but I’ll just tell a couple right now. So we were in class and one elder was handing out stickers and I asked my companion how to say “I want”. She answered “quiero”. I quickly yelled to the elder across the room “te quiero!” This means I want you/ I love you... I was supposed to say lo quiero which means I want it... the missionaries had a good laugh about it haha. The poor elder was a little shocked haha! The good thing is I will always remember what lo quiero means now!

Ok one more funny story... one companion is from New Zealand so we have different words we say for certain things. For example we say trash and she says rubbish. Ok so one day we had taquitos for lunch and she looked at them and said “oh we are having Mexican sticks for lunch”. I WAS DEAD!! I could not stop laughing haha!  We gave her a hard time but she was cool about it haha

The MTC is a lot of work but I feel the Spirit constantly! I remember thinking the first couple days that there would be no way I would still be here if I did not know that this work was the work of our Heavenly Father. I know this gospel is true and I know our savior lives. I know the Book of Mormon is another testament of our Savior Jesus Christ and I know it was translated by Jospeh Smith.

It was so cool because yesterday I had the amazing opportunity to shake Elder Gong’s hand (he is a member of the 12 apostles) and touch the pages of a 1831 version of the Book of Mormon. He looked at me and told me to never forget of the book’s truthfulness and I was able to say with a surety that I would not forget. I love the Book of Mormon, it has blessed my life so much. I encourage you all to read it if you haven’t recently.

Well thank you for all the prayers! I have truly felt this week that our Heavenly Father loves us and is aware of our needs!

I’ll leave you all with my favorite scripture this week.  “Lift up your heart and rejoice, for the hour of your mission is come; and your tongue shall be loosed, and you shall declare glad tidings of great joy unto this generation” D&C 31:3

This gospel is a message of joy and I can’t wait to share it with others.
Te amo,
Hermana Ross

Farewell Hermana Ross

Jaydn spoke in the Sacrament Meeting of the Canyon Hills ward on May 26, 2019.  Her talk centered on cultivating the light of Christ within us and then sharing that light.  She shared a scripture from the New Testament found in Matthew Chapter 5; verses 14-16:

14 Ye are the alight of the world. A city that is set on an hill cannot be hid.

15 Neither do men light a acandle, and put it under a bushel, but on a candlestick; and it giveth light unto all that are in the house.

16 Let your alight so shine before men, that they may see your good bworks, and cglorify your Father which is in heaven.14 Ye are the alight of the world. A city that is set on an hill cannot be hid.
She shared how the light of Christ has blessed her life and the gratitude she has to be able to share that light with the people of Spain.  That afternoon many family members and friends gathered to say good-bye or "see you in 18-months".

Wednesday morning, May 29th, 2019, we took Jaydn to the Ontario airport to send her off to Salt Lake City.  She was met at the airport by wonderful family who loved and spoiled her.  She was so grateful to Grandma Betz, Aunt Carolyn, Aunt Sue, Aunt Amy and cousins for their love and support.  They took her to the Missionary Training Center where she will be for the next six weeks.

Mom and Dad were a mess, but here's a photo with Zachary, Sawyer, Drexel and Adelaide

Feb 5, 2019: You are hereby called...

Jaydn received her mission call early in February, 2019.  She opened it in Provo while attending BYU.  We were able to watch her open it live on FaceTime.  She had waited for over three weeks after submitting her missionary papers and we were all relieved when it finally came.  After days and weeks of wondering where she would be called to, we were all ecstatic that Jaydn was called to labor in the Spain, Barcelona mission.
